In-person Longevity Assessment at UNTIL, 280 Bishops Square

The short answer

What the Longevity Assessment is

The Longevity Assessment is a structured 90 to 120 minute evaluation that establishes your true baseline before any phase, load, or volume is selected: a complete health and performance consultation at UNTIL Liverpool Street measuring movement quality, strength capacity, aerobic fitness, and lifestyle. Most training problems come not from a lack of effort, but from decisions made too early.

The full in-person protocol is measured on site: a Functional Movement Screen and single-leg balance, grip strength and countermovement jump, a cardiovascular fitness test for VO2 max, waist and hip measurements, blood pressure, resting heart rate and heart rate recovery, and a lifestyle questionnaire covering sleep, stress, schedule, and travel. The data is read together rather than in isolation, so priorities and the training phase that will yield the most return are identified before any programme is written. You leave with a personalised Results Review naming your primary limitation and recommended pathway, whether that is 1-2-1 coaching, online coaching, or a self-led programme. It is a one-off product with no obligation to continue, and the fee is credited in full against a 12 or 24-session coaching package.

What the Longevity Assessment includes

A complete health and performance consultation that sets your true baseline before a programme is written.

The full in-person protocol

Every marker measured on site across movement, strength, cardiovascular fitness and lifestyle, so your baseline is complete rather than partial.

Functional Movement Screen

A full FMS and single-leg balance map how you move, so restrictions and asymmetries are found before any load is added.

Health markers measured

Blood pressure, resting heart rate and heart rate recovery, plus waist and hip measurements, read together as a picture of where your body is today.

Cardiovascular fitness test

A Chester Step Test, twelve-minute run or Watt bike MOT gives a VO2 reading, so your aerobic base is measured, not guessed.

Strength and power testing

Grip strength and a countermovement jump, unique to the in-person tier, capture strength and power a remote assessment cannot.

Lifestyle reviewed

A structured questionnaire covers sleep, stress, schedule and travel, so the plan fits the life you actually lead.

A personalised Results Review

You leave with a written review naming your primary limitation and the training phase that will deliver the most return.

No obligation to continue

Three years, significantly stronger

Matt has been a great coach over the past three+ years. He has been supportive from a fitness, strength and motivation perspective. My strength has improved significantly and he is always working on what we need to accomplish over the next few months.

Suz R. Training 3+ years

Structured, knowledgeable, and it shows

I’ve had a fantastic experience training with Matt. He’s incredibly structured, highly knowledgeable, and brings a consistently positive, motivating approach to every session. Everything is clearly thought through and tailored, which has made a real difference.

Will F.

Great gains in my late 40s

Matt has been my PT for a couple of years now and I have made some great gains since then (lean muscle mass and strength has increased significantly and I am in my late 40s), which I attribute to Matt’s expert approach. My main focus is endurance running and so Matt ensures that everything we do has specificity to that.

Mike K. Training 2+ years

Online, and the detail is excellent

I’m working with Matt remotely through his online coaching and the level of detail is excellent. The programme is clearly built around my ability and adjusted as I progress. Communication is consistent and I always know what I should be focusing on.

How the assessment
works

The Longevity Assessment reads your body as one picture, so your real priorities are clear before any programme is written.

Baseline movement and strength testing at UNTIL Liverpool Street

Information gathered

We work through the Functional Movement Screen and single-leg balance, grip strength and countermovement jump, waist-to-hip ratio, blood pressure and heart rate, and a cardiovascular fitness test, alongside your sleep, stress and training history.

Cardiovascular testing during the Longevity Assessment at UNTIL Liverpool Street

Information interpreted

The data is read together, not in isolation. A high VO2 max on a restricted frame tells a different story to the same score on a strong, mobile one, so your real priorities surface.

Phase selected

Your training phase, whether general preparation, strength development or consolidation, is chosen on capacity and priorities rather than speed. The brief is matched to the body in front of Matt, never a template.

Longevity Assessment
FAQs

What is the Longevity Assessment?

A structured evaluation designed to understand how your body currently performs and what it needs to remain strong, capable, and resilient long-term. Rather than jumping straight into training, we measure movement quality, physical capacity, lifestyle factors, and recovery habits, so training decisions can be made deliberately rather than based on guesswork.

Is a Longevity Assessment the same as a fitness consultation?

Yes: a Longevity Assessment is a structured fitness consultation built around longevity markers rather than aesthetic goals. Over 90 to 120 minutes we assess movement quality, strength, cardiovascular capacity, and health markers, producing a personalised report and training plan. It is the structured alternative to the typical introductory PT session.

What's included in a Longevity Assessment?

The full in-person protocol, all measured on site: a Functional Movement Screen and single-leg balance; blood pressure, resting heart rate and heart rate recovery; waist and hip measurements; a cardiovascular fitness test for VO2; grip strength; countermovement jump; and a lifestyle questionnaire. Grip strength, the countermovement jump and the full FMS are unique to the in-person tier.

Who is the Longevity Assessment for?

Professionals who want a structured, intelligent approach to their health and training. Most clients are 45 to 60 years old, busy professionals balancing demanding careers and family life, experiencing declining energy or consistency, and looking for a long-term strategy rather than short-term fitness fixes. No previous training experience is required to book.

What do I receive afterwards?

A written Results Review covering your current strengths and limitations, the key areas that will yield the greatest improvements, the recommended training phase, and a suggested pathway forward (1-2-1 coaching, online coaching, or a self-led programme). The Results Review is yours to keep regardless of whether you continue with coaching.

Can I book online or do I need to come in person?

Both options exist. The in-person Longevity Assessment is delivered at UNTIL Bishops Square in the City of London. A Virtual Longevity Assessment is available for clients outside London or with frequent travel demands: it uses guided video movement testing and accessible field cardiovascular tests, with the same Results Review and pathway recommendation.

How does the Longevity Assessment lead into coaching?

It is the foundation of every coaching pathway, but there is no obligation to continue. The Results Review identifies the training approach best suited to your body and constraints: you then choose whether 1-2-1 coaching, online coaching, or a self-led programme fits your life. Some clients use the assessment as a one-off audit and continue training independently.

Why start with an assessment instead of a training programme?

Most training problems do not come from lack of effort: they come from poor decisions made too early. Starting with an assessment lets us understand movement limitations, injury history, current physical capacity, and lifestyle constraints. Training can then be built around your body rather than forcing your body to adapt to generic programming.

Do I need to be fit to do the assessment?

No. The assessment is designed to evaluate your current baseline, not to test how hard you can push. Everything is adjusted to your current ability and injury history so that we can gather meaningful information safely. Whether you have trained for years or are returning after a long gap, the assessment meets you where you are.

Is the assessment suitable if I have injuries or pain?

Yes, and in many cases this is where the assessment is most valuable. Understanding previous injuries, movement compensations, and current limitations allows training to be structured safely and progressively. If any red flags appear during the assessment, appropriate referrals to a physiotherapist or GP are made before continuing.

How often should the assessment be repeated?

Most clients repeat the assessment every 6 to 12 months. This allows us to track improvements in key areas: mobility, strength, balance, and aerobic capacity, and update the training strategy accordingly. The repeat cadence is built into ongoing coaching for clients who continue beyond the first assessment.
